Registration for Meetings/Events


The mission of the Black Writers' Guild of Maryland, Inc. is to provide avenues of support and networking to Maryland's African-American diverse writers.

Major programs and activities:


  • Workshops that educate writers on the aspects of writing and publishing.
  • Showcases to provide forums for writers to find their voice through public presentations of their work.
  • Mentoring to youth and adults who have an interest in finding their literary voice.


Come join us!  We meet the first Saturday of each month (from September to June) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at:

Meetings are free for current members. Annual membership is $35.00.  For all others, the donation is $5.00. Bring a friend!

Satuday, May 7, 2016 - "How to Make Your Mark as a Black Writer in a Crumbling Media Landscape". Speaker:  Tony Norman from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Saturday, June 4, 2016  -  BWG Town Hall Meeting. Come share your ideas for improving our organization.

July and August, 2016:  Summer Recess/no meetings. Meetings resume in September.

Saturday, September 3, 2016:  General meeting.  Topic to be announced.

Friday-Sunday, September 23-25, 2016:  Baltimore Book Festival
